Friday, Januay 31, 2025 - Chan May, Vietnam
The next two days will be Bob sharing his experiences in Chan May and Da Nang. We had visited both places a few times before, and this time all of the tours required an extensive amount of walking. Since I choose not to participate in those tours I remained on the ship and sent Bob out to revisit these towns.
So, here's Bob:
Soon we re-boarded the bus and continued our drive to Marble Mountains. The mountains are named after the five basic elements of the universe: Kim Mountain (Metal); Moc Mountain (Wood); Thuy Mountain (Water); Tho Mountain (Earth); and Hoa Mountain (Fire).
We then drove to the Cham Museum, but before we ventured into the museum we boarded and rode in one-person pedicabs in and around the Han market, winding through small side streets of Da Nang to experience the heartbeat of the city. Riding in the pedicab offers a charming and intimate way to experience the hectic pace and heartbeat of Da Nang that includes 100's of motorcycles and other pedicabs.
As we exited the pedicab we continued our journey to the Cham Museum where we were treated to information about the Cham history that included sandstone sculptures and temple decorations created between the 4th and 5th centuries by the Cham people.
Tomorrow we look forward to visiting another Vietnamese port, Da Nang. Bob will be visiting an archeological site, which should be very interesting.
